Why this role exists
Behind Steveston Garage Doors sits a small family of service brands — residential, commercial, and dock work — and the paperwork of a real trades business: parts invoices from suppliers, customer invoices and deposits, technician payroll, GST/PST, and month-ends that need to be true, not "close enough." We want one detail-obsessed person to own that world.
What you'll own
- Day-to-day bookkeeping across our brands (QuickBooks Online)
- Accounts payable — supplier invoices, statements, and keeping vendors happy
- Accounts receivable — invoicing, deposits, and polite, persistent follow-up
- Payroll support for technicians and office staff, including commission math
- GST/PST filings and clean, on-time month-end closes
- Simple, honest reporting the owners can actually run the business on
Who does well here
- You've done books for a trades, construction or service business before — job costing and parts markups don't scare you
- QuickBooks Online fluency; spreadsheets that other people can read
- You reconcile to the penny, and it genuinely bothers you when things don't balance
- Discreet and trustworthy — you'll see everything, and it stays with you
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus, not a requirement; competence beats credentials
The shape of the job
Part-time to start (roughly 1–2 days a week, flexible, mostly remote with occasional visits to our Richmond office), growing with the business. For the right person this becomes the finance seat of a company that's scaling on purpose.
